Lake Auburn

Lake Auburn, located in Auburn and spanning into Lewiston, offers paddlers and boaters access via a gated public boat ramp facility. The 930-acre lake is an expansion of the Androscoggin River and features both hard-surfaced and gravel launch options to accommodate various vessel types. Gates operate from sunrise to sunset, with seasonal access from ice-out in spring through late fall.

**Paddlers should note** that the northern end of Lake Auburn near the tributary from The Basin has Variable Leaf Milfoil growth, which is marked with buoys and closed to access. Before launching, check conditions and aquatic plant status, as invasive species management may affect navigation in certain areas. The lake provides good recreational opportunities for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing, though boaters should be aware that water conditions can swell to impressive levels during spring runoff.
