Lake Audubon offers a well-developed boat ramp and access point near Coleharbor in McLean County, managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers. The ramp accommodates various watercraft including kayaks, canoes, and motorboats, with a courtesy dock available for easier loading and unloading. The site features amenities including restroom facilities, drinking water, and a fish cleaning station—helpful for anglers targeting the lake's walleye and smallmouth bass populations.
The surrounding area provides excellent camping options for paddlers planning multi-day trips. The on-site US Army Corps of Engineers campground offers 30 electric campsites and 10 primitive campsites, all 100% reservable through Recreation.gov (1-877-444-6777) or online at www.recreation.gov. Two additional campgrounds—East Totten Trail and Wolf Creek—are located within 10 miles and also offer reservable sites. The nearby Audubon National Wildlife Refuge provides scenic paddling opportunities in a rolling landscape along the Missouri Coteau.
