Lake Brekken is a 675-acre reservoir located 1.5 miles north of Turtle Lake in McLean County, North Dakota. The Brekken-Holmes Recreation Area offers a paved public boat ramp on the west side of the lake, providing reliable access for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The ramp is complemented by a courtesy dock and fishing pier, making it convenient for launching and landing.
The recreation area is well-developed for day trips and extended stays, with three picnic shelters, RV sites with electric hookups, a playground, and restrooms on-site. The lake's 620 acres of surrounding land and approximately 1,200-acre watershed consist primarily of grassland, pasture, and agricultural areas. For facility information or updates on seasonal maintenance that may affect ramp usability, contact the Turtle Lake Park Board at (701) 250-4592. Spring and summer may bring temporary closures due to maintenance work.
