About This Access Site
Located in Cannon Falls on the Goodhue County side of 1,368-acre Byllesby Lake, this west-side boat ramp provides public access to the lake for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The lake features a maximum depth of 50 feet, offering a substantial body of water suitable for various paddling and boating activities. Note that the boat launch is operational only when buoys are in place around the Lake Byllesby Dam, so conditions should be confirmed before visiting.

This access point serves as an alternative to the more developed Dakota County side of the lake, which features additional amenities including a regional park, campground, and swimming beach. The two access areas are now connected by the Mill Towns State Trail bridge over the Cannon River, making it easy to explore different sections of the lake. Paddlers should be aware that the west ramp is a simpler facility compared to the Dakota County location, making it a good option for those seeking a more straightforward launch point.
