About This Access Site
Lake Carlos State Park offers convenient water access on the north shore of Carlos Lake in Alexandria, Minnesota. The main boat ramp features a concrete launch with two wooden docks, making it suitable for a variety of watercraft from kayaks and canoes to larger boats and pontoons. A second seasonal ramp is available near the lower campground.

Lake Carlos is a clear, deep glacially-carved lake ideal for paddling, fishing, and boating. The park encompasses diverse wetland habitats including tamarack bogs, marshes, and woodland ponds. Note that you'll need to bring your own boat—rentals are not available at the park. This is a well-developed state park with camping facilities and additional recreational options like hiking and swimming, making it a good base for a paddling trip in the area.
