The Lake Drain boat ramp provides access to D'Arbonne Bayou near Downsville in Union Parish. This gravel ramp is located at the spillway area and offers a convenient launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorboats. The site features a parking area at the bottom of the spillway along the bayou, making it easy to load and unload watercraft. The ramp provides access to D'Arbonne Lake and Bayou D'Arbonne, part of the larger 15,200-acre lake system with over 100 miles of shoreline.
D'Arbonne Bayou is known as an excellent destination for family recreation and fishing, with strong populations of crappie, catfish, sunfish, bream, and bass. Paddlers will find the waterway accessible for canoes and kayaks, with multiple shoreline access points throughout the system. The water body's extensive shallow areas and bayou environment make it suitable for leisure paddling and fishing expeditions.
**Important regulations:** No fishing is permitted within 50 feet of the boat ramp, no overnight camping is allowed at the facility, and no fires are permitted. The site is closed from sunset to sunrise. For additional amenities and recreation opportunities, D'Arbonne State Park (accessible via Highway 2 west of Farmerville) offers cabins, camping facilities, a swimming pool, fishing pier, and other services.
