About This Access Site
Lake Eau Claire County Park provides public boat access to Eau Claire Lake, an 870-acre impoundment in Eau Claire County. The lake offers a relatively sheltered paddling environment with a maximum depth of 25 feet, though water clarity is low. The park is located on the north shore near Augusta and serves as a convenient launching point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters exploring the lake. A daily or annual vehicle entrance pass is required to access the park; passes can be purchased at the boat landing or online.

Paddlers should be aware that water levels can fluctuate seasonally, which may affect launch conditions and paddling routes. While the lake itself is suitable for recreational paddling, the river flowage upstream toward the dam is generally characterized as low-interest paddling. During high-water periods, sections of the Eau Claire River can offer more challenging paddling with rapids. The lake supports fishing for musky, panfish, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, and walleye, and sees moderate recreational boating activity during summer months.
