Lake Elsie

Lake Elsie is a 377-acre lake located three miles northwest of Hankinson in Richland County, offering a dedicated boat ramp for paddlers and boaters. The ramp provides access to approximately 5 miles of shoreline, making it suitable for kayaking, canoeing, and recreational boating. The site includes a boat trailer parking lot and is situated within the Sheyenne National Grassland, providing a scenic setting for water activities.

The access area features several amenities to enhance your visit, including a picnic shelter, dock facilities, and 15 nearby campsites with picnic tables and fire rings (six sites accommodate horses and campers). An 8-mile loop hiking trail and additional facilities such as a large group fire ring are available in the area. Note that the ramp may experience seasonal closures or maintenance during spring and summer months—check with local authorities for current usability status before your visit.
