Lake Henry Land Use Area

**Location & Access:** Lake Henry Land Use Area in De Smet, Kingsbury County, provides boat ramp access to Lake Henry, a substantial 6,000-acre water body approximately 8 miles long and 2 miles wide. The site features a gravel boat ramp with courtesy docks and ample paved parking suitable for vehicles towing trailers.

**Facilities & Regulations:** The day-use area includes a vault toilet, fishing docks, and a picnic area. A park entrance license is required to access this South Dakota state recreation area. Note that area roads can become slick when wet or snow-covered, so plan accordingly. Camping is available and limited to 10 days within any 30-day period. Pets must remain leashed, and all users should pack out what they pack in.

**Recreation Opportunities:** Lake Henry is popular for fishing, wildlife viewing, and general water recreation, making it suitable for kayaking, canoeing, and motorboating. The area is also designated as an Important Bird Area and is part of the Idaho Birding Trail, offering excellent opportunities for paddlers interested in wildlife observation.
