This boat ramp provides direct access to the Trinity River immediately below Lake Livingston Dam in the Coldspring area. Located on Trinity River Authority land on the west (left) bank below the dam, this is a primary put-in point for paddlers and boaters exploring the lower Trinity River tailwaters. The site offers convenient access to both upstream and downstream paddling opportunities, with facilities including restrooms and boat ramps nearby.
The lower Trinity River below the dam offers relatively easy paddling with manageable water conditions. From this access point, paddlers can explore downstream toward Huffman Creek (7 miles) and Long King Creek, or venture upstream toward the lake. The area benefits from the dam's proximity, making water levels more predictable. To reach the site, take Highway 356 south from Trinity or Highway 19 north from Riverside; the boat ramp is located before the bridge crossing.
This is an ideal launch point for day trips on the lower Trinity and serves as a good base for exploring the various creek confluences and wildlife habitat in the tailwaters region below Lake Livingston.
