Lake Lytle's public boat ramp in Rockaway Beach provides convenient access to this shallow, freshwater lake located just east of Highway 101. The ramp offers a good launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorboats, with ample parking available on the wide highway shoulder near the public angling dock. Note that the dock on the ramp side of the lake is no longer available. The lake is stocked with fish and features productive bass habitat, particularly in shallow areas during spring and early summer months.
This access point is ideal when coastal winds make ocean paddling challenging, offering a sheltered freshwater alternative. The slough connecting to Crescent Lake is designated non-motorized, making it suitable for quiet paddle exploration. While the lake itself is not particularly scenic, it provides functional access to local paddling opportunities. The site's proximity to Nehalem State Park and nearby wildlife refuges—including Cape Meares and Three Arch Rocks National Wildlife Refuges—makes it a useful base for exploring the Tillamook County waterways and coastline. Shore access is good throughout the area, making it suitable for both paddlers and anglers.
