About This Access Site
The Lake Moomaw Marina boat ramp provides access to the scenic Jackson River and Lake Moomaw in western Virginia. This federal recreation area, managed by the U.S. Forest Service, offers a wide range of amenities for paddlers, anglers, and boaters.

The boat ramp is located near the Bolar Flat Marina and can accommodate both small trailered boats and hand-carried craft like kayaks and canoes. Lake Moomaw is a large, deep reservoir known for its excellent trout fishing as well as populations of bass, crappie, and other warm-water species. The lake offers miles of shoreline to explore, with several additional public access points along its shores.

Nearby campgrounds and picnic areas make this an ideal destination for a day or multi-day trip on the water. Paddlers should be aware of typical reservoir conditions, including fluctuating water levels and potential wind. As with any boating activity, it's important to check current conditions, wear appropriate safety gear, and follow all local regulations.
