Lake Poinsett Recreation Area

Lake Poinsett Recreation Area near Arlington offers excellent public boat access with a dedicated ramp at the state recreation area, plus three additional ramps (Sorenson, Saaranen, and Prestrude) around the lake's 16-mile shoreline. This makes it convenient for kayakers and canoeists to launch from multiple locations. The main recreation area ramp provides straightforward water access and is well-maintained as part of a comprehensive facility.

The recreation area is a full-service destination with 104 electric campsites, 6 tent sites, and 4 camping cabins, making it ideal for extended paddling trips or weekend getaways. Amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, dump stations, and a fish cleaning station. Beyond paddling, the area features a swimming beach, hiking trails, disc golf, and an archery range, plus the Lake Poinsett Visitor Center and Museum.
