About This Access Site
Located at the southern end of Highway 434 in Lacombe, St. Tammany Parish, this free public boat launch provides convenient access to Bayou Lacombe. The facility features a paved ramp and a large gravel parking lot, making it suitable for kayaks, canoes, and small to medium-sized motorboats. This is a popular spot for fishing and crabbing, so expect moderate activity, particularly during peak seasons.

From the launch area, paddlers can explore two main routes: westward into the winding sections of Bayou Lacombe, or southward toward Lake Pontchartrain. The bayou offers relatively calm, protected paddling conditions ideal for recreational boaters and anglers. Nearby, Big Branch Marsh National Wildlife Refuge (established 1994) sits along the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain and provides additional exploration opportunities for those interested in wildlife viewing.

**Directions:** From I-12, take Exit 74 to Highway 434 heading south toward Lacombe. Continue south on Lake Road (Highway 434) to reach the launch site.
