About This Access Site
The Bethany boat ramp provides convenient access to Lake Shelbyville, a large recreational lake in central Illinois. This is a developed U.S. Army Corps of Engineers access area featuring a four-lane launching ramp with a 175-car parking lot, making it well-suited for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boats. Note that a launch fee is typically assessed at this developed facility (free access is available at some state park or Corps gravel ramps elsewhere on the lake).

Lake Shelbyville offers a wide variety of water activities in a scenic central Illinois setting. The lake is large enough to accommodate multiple recreational users, and several private marinas around the lake offer boat rentals, motors, and full supplies if needed. For those planning an extended visit, two campgrounds are located within 10 miles: Wilborn Creek Group Camp (reservable) and Sullivan Marina and Campground, both providing convenient lodging options near the water.
