About This Access Site
Located in South Lake Tahoe, the Bijou area provides access to Lake Tahoe's pristine alpine waters. This boat ramp facility accommodates kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters looking to launch into one of California's most popular recreation destinations. The site offers convenient lake access along with nearby amenities, including kayak rentals and food concessions.

Before launching, be aware of Lake Tahoe's strict aquatic invasive species protection requirements. All non-motorized watercraft (kayaks and canoes) must be Clean, Drained, and Dry and can receive a free inspection at any inspection station. Motorized boats require a TRPA boat inspection seal prior to launching—boats without valid seals will not be permitted to launch. For detailed inspection locations, hours, and appointment information, visit the TRPA website or download the Tahoe Boating App.

Several campground options are available within 10 miles, including Eagles Nest at Camp Richardson Resort, Zephyr Cove RV & Campground, and Fallen Leaf Campground. Paddlers can explore mapped routes through the Lake Tahoe Water Trail and should consult current conditions and safety information before heading out on this large, alpine lake.
