About This Access Site
**Location & Access:** Located in Plattsburg, Clinton County, near the town of Lathrop, this boat ramp provides public access to the Little Platte River upstream from Smithville Lake. The ramp is positioned just upstream of Lathrop Bridge and points slightly downstream. Note that a shallow dike exists just upstream of the ramp, so be mindful of water conditions when launching.

**Practical Information for Paddlers:** This access point is ideal for kayakers and canoeists exploring the Little Platte River's upland reaches. The ramp approach can be narrow, and paddlers should be aware that many boaters land on the sandbar to the right (downstream) of the ramp during lower water conditions. The site offers convenient access to paddle upstream on the Little Platte before it enters Smithville Lake. All standard Missouri state boating regulations apply, including registration and safety equipment requirements for motorized vessels.

**Nearby Recreation:** Smithville Lake, a 7,190-acre reservoir with city and county-operated facilities, is within paddling distance downstream and offers additional water-based recreation opportunities within 30 minutes of downtown Kansas City.
