Located in Richland along the Columbia River, Leslie Groves Park offers a well-maintained public boat launch providing access to Lake Wallula. The 150-acre park serves as a convenient launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters exploring this expansive reservoir that stretches from McNary Dam downstream to Priest Rapids Dam upstream. The site is non-reservable and free to use as part of this U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recreation area.
Beyond water access, Leslie Groves Park provides excellent supporting amenities for a full day of recreation, including hiking and biking trails that connect to nearby Howard Amon Park, picnic areas, and scenic viewpoints for bird watching. Paddlers should note that Lake Wallula offers good fishing opportunities for salmon and steelhead (check current Washington and Oregon fishing regulations before your trip, as openings may change). The park's location in the Tri-Cities area makes it an accessible launch for exploring one of the Columbia River's major recreational reservoirs.
