Letnikof Cove is a small embayment on the eastern shore of Chilkat Inlet, approximately 5 miles south-southeast of Haines, Alaska. This seasonal boat ramp and access site is located along Mud Bay Road, which can be reached by taking 3rd Ave south from Haines.
The Letnikof Harbor is a transient moorage facility that is open from April through October. No permanent slips or reservations are available, and the facility is closed for winter maintenance from October to April. Kayakers, canoeists, and small boaters can launch at the seasonal Letnikof Launch Ramp, though fees may apply. Be sure to check with the Harbormaster's Office in advance for current conditions and requirements.
Letnikof Cove provides access to the wide, protected waters of Chilkat Inlet and the nearby Chilkat River system. This area offers excellent paddling and boating opportunities, with scenic mountain views and potential wildlife sightings. Paddlers and boaters should be aware of the open ocean conditions and tides when venturing out from the cove.
