Lick Fork

**Location & Access**
Lick Fork Boat Ramp is located near Celestine in DuBois County, providing convenient access to Patoka Lake within Hoosier National Forest. The ramp serves both motorized and non-motorized watercraft, making it suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and recreational boaters. Multiple access points exist around Patoka Lake, so paddlers can choose the ramp closest to their desired paddling area.

**Permits & Usage**
Lake permits are required for all watercraft: $5 for non-motorized boats (kayaks and canoes) and $25 for motorized craft. Permits can be purchased online or at the Park Office/Entrance Gate when staffed. Be aware that water conditions can fluctuate—the Patoka Tail Waters area occasionally experiences temporary closures due to dam discharge increases, so check current conditions before your trip.

**Important Notes for Paddlers**
Patoka Lake supports diverse wildlife, including nesting bald eagles, and offers scenic paddling through a forested landscape. However, blue-green algae can be present year-round, so avoid drinking the water and rinse off after swimming. The surrounding Hoosier National Forest provides additional recreation opportunities for those combining water and land-based activities.
