Lincoln Woods

Lincoln Woods State Park offers convenient public access to Olney Pond via a recently reconstructed boat ramp. Located just outside the Providence metro area, this site provides 15-20 parking spaces and is easily accessible from Route 146 (take the Twin River Road exit). The ramp is suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats of all skill levels. Note that restrooms are not available at the launch area, though seasonal facilities may be open at the nearby beach.

Paddlers should be aware of submerged rocks near the shoreline—their visibility varies with seasonal water level changes, so exercise caution when launching and landing. Olney Pond is rimmed by 627 acres of Lincoln Woods State Park, which features hiking and bridle trails if you're interested in exploring the area beyond the water. This is a popular destination that attracts over one million visitors annually, so expect moderate to busy conditions, particularly on weekends and during peak seasons.
