Lorrain Park

Located in Hayes (near Bell City), Lorrain Park provides convenient public access to Bayou Lacassine via a dedicated boat launch with two wharves. The park is well-equipped for paddlers and anglers, with ample parking, a fish-cleaning station, picnic facilities, and a playground. The park opens at 5 a.m. and closes at 11 p.m. daily, making it accessible for early morning and evening paddling trips.

Bayou Lacassine is a slow-moving, scenic waterway that flows through swamp terrain toward Lacassine National Wildlife Refuge and Grand Lake beyond. This gentle bayou is well-suited for kayaking and canoeing, particularly for those interested in wildlife viewing—the area is known for migratory birds and local wildlife. From Lorrain Park, paddlers can explore downstream into the refuge or fish along the bayou's banks. The flat terrain and calm water make this an excellent option for paddlers of varying skill levels.
