Malmaison Road

The Malmaison Road boat ramp provides public access to the Yalobusha River in the Grenada/Leflore County area. The ramp is located on the right side of the road just before the bridge; from Highway 7 and 8, take Highway 8N/35N north for approximately 1.5 miles to reach the access point. This is a convenient put-in for paddlers and boaters exploring this major river system.

The Yalobusha River is a substantial waterway with an average flow of approximately 3,730 cubic feet per second and a moderate gradient of 2 feet per mile. Paddlers should expect moderate current conditions typical of a large stream system (Stream Order 8). Water levels and access conditions can vary seasonally—check local conditions before launching, as water management activities upstream may affect water levels and access availability, particularly in areas confined to the lowest water zones during certain times of year.

The access site is near the Tallahatchie National Wildlife Refuge (4,199 acres across Grenada and Tallahatchie Counties), offering opportunities to explore diverse wildlife habitat along the river corridor. This area is well-suited for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boats seeking access to a productive mid-Mississippi River system.
