Malone Springs provides access to Crystal Creek in the Winema National Forest near Rocky Point in Klamath County. This is a scenic paddling area in the Cascade Range with opportunities to explore local waterways. Note that the main boat ramp is currently out of the water, making this site better suited for hand-launching kayaks and canoes. The nearby Spring Campground is open during operating season, though paddlecraft must be carried to the water rather than launched via the ramp.
From Malone Springs, paddlers can access Mason Creek and travel downstream to the Homosassa River system via Battle Creek or Petty Creek. The area offers flexibility for trips—you can paddle south and take out at the Rocky Point public boat ramp, allowing for one-way paddling adventures. Fourmile Lake Campground (reservable) is located within 10 miles and provides overnight camping options.
**Important Note:** The Oregon Health Authority issued a recreational use advisory for Upper Klamath Lake and the National Wildlife Refuge that includes this access area. Check current advisories before planning your trip. Amenities at the site include picnic tables, and free parking is available. This location is ideal for paddlers looking to explore the quieter creek systems rather than larger open-water launches.
