Manhattan Bridge

Located 3 miles south of Ollie in Keokuk County, the Manhattan Bridge access point offers a well-developed launch facility for paddlers and boaters on the South Skunk River. The site features a sturdy 20-foot-wide concrete ramp that extends 30 feet into the water, providing reliable access for kayaks, canoes, and small motorboats. A gravel parking area accommodates 5-8 vehicles, with some parking available in the shade beneath the bridge. The lot is set back from the highway, offering a quiet launch environment.

This access point serves as a convenient midpoint on the South Skunk River water trail, positioned between upstream and downstream access sites. Paddlers can plan multi-day trips using nearby landings such as Skunk River Access (6.6 miles downstream) or McKain Access (9.4 miles downstream). The lighted parking area makes this a practical stop for morning or evening launches, though paddlers should check current water conditions on the South Skunk River before heading out, as flow and navigability vary seasonally.
