The Manley Hot Springs Landing 2 provides direct access to the Tanana River, a large and heavily used waterway in interior Alaska. The launch site is located approximately 3 miles from the village of Manley Hot Springs, at the end of the Elliott Highway.
The Tanana River is a sizeable, slow-moving river that flows for over 300 miles before joining the Yukon River. At this location, the river is classified as a 7th-order stream, with a total drainage area of over 5,000 square miles. Despite its large size, the Tanana has a very gentle gradient, with no significant elevation change in the vicinity of the landing.
The access point itself is a simple sloped sand bank, without a formal boat ramp. This makes it suitable for launching a variety of watercraft, including kayaks, canoes, and small motorized boats. Paddlers and boaters should be prepared for the silty, braided nature of the Tanana River, which can present navigation challenges. The landing provides a convenient access point for those exploring the Tanana River system or using it as a corridor to reach nearby tributaries.
