About This Access Site
Maple Creek Recreation Area, located near Leigh in Platte County, offers a 160-acre reservoir on the West Fork of Maple Creek with designated boat access. The no-wake recreation area is ideal for paddlers and small boaters seeking calmer water conditions. The site opened to the public in May 2011 and features modern amenities including a boat ramp, camper pads, picnic shelters, and a swimming beach—making it a convenient launching point for kayakers and canoeists.

Beyond the water, the 557-acre recreation area provides additional outdoor recreation opportunities including hiking and biking trails, fishing, and camping options (both modern and primitive). The reservoir was created by a dam on the west fork to provide flood protection for the Leigh area while serving as a scenic destination for water-based recreation. Check with local authorities or the LENRD for current access conditions, any seasonal restrictions, and specific amenities available during your visit.
