About This Access Site
McCarthy Landing provides public access to the Centerville River in Barnstable, located at 40 Hayward Road. This gravel ramp facility accommodates approximately 15 trailer spaces and is suitable for shallow draft boats, making it a practical launch point for kayaks, canoes, and small motorized vessels. Launching is free with a resident parking sticker (required for parking).

The Centerville River offers a scenic paddling experience on Cape Cod's central coast. The site's location near both the Cape Cod Canal and Waquoit Bay provides paddlers with access to diverse water conditions—from protected river paddling to coastal estuary exploration. Given the shallow draft designation and tidal nature of this coastal river system, paddlers should check tide tables before launching, as water levels can vary significantly at low tide.
