About This Access Site
The Meduxnekeag River Boat Ramp is located at 26 River Street in downtown Houlton and provides convenient access to a popular paddling destination in Aroostook County. The ramp is positioned just below the last bridge in town on the right bank, making it an ideal take-out point after paddling through the downtown section, which features several bridges, a strong current, and gentle waves.

The Meduxnekeag River offers excellent paddling opportunities for canoeists and kayakers, particularly during spring (May-June) and fall (September-October) when water levels are moderate to high. Summer paddling is possible during wet years in July and August. The river is known for its calm, scenic sections and is popular enough to host annual canoe races each May. The access site includes parking, picnic areas, and amenities like bank fishing access and trails, making it suitable for families and day-trippers.
