The Mike Walker access site offers a well-maintained concrete boat ramp providing convenient entry to the Snake River near Menan in Jefferson County. Located south of Highway 48, this facility includes restroom facilities and a small campground, making it suitable for day trips or overnight outings. An expanded amenity fee of $3.00 applies to use. The site is reservable through Recreation.gov.
This section of the Snake River is a major waterway with significant flow—averaging nearly 50,000 cubic feet per second—and relatively swift current averaging 10.8 feet per second. Paddlers should be prepared for a powerful river with an average gradient of 15.8 feet per mile. The access point serves as a downstream take-out for multi-day trips originating further upstream (it's approximately 33.9 miles downstream from the Byington Access point), and can also serve as a launch point for day trips. Given the river's size, flow rate, and gradient, this site is best suited for experienced paddlers and boaters with appropriate equipment.
