Mill Race Park offers a convenient take-out location on the west side of downtown Columbus, accessible off 2nd Street. The DNR-maintained boat ramp provides easy launching and recovery for kayaks, canoes, and small motorboats. The park features ample amenities including free parking, picnic facilities, and a river walk with interpretive boardwalk, making it an ideal endpoint for paddling trips on the Driftwood River.
This access point works well as part of a longer paddling route, with a put-in available just south of the bridge over the Driftwood River on Lowell Road. The park is family-friendly with additional recreational facilities including trails, playground areas, and picnic shelters. Paddlers should note that this is a developed urban park setting, providing good access but limited backcountry character.
