The Mio Pond boat ramp provides public access to the Au Sable River's Mio Dam Pond, a scenic impoundment in Michigan's northern Lower Peninsula. Located just north of the dam in Mio, this ramp is maintained by Consumers Energy and offers a convenient launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorboats. The site includes portage facilities and is situated within Mio Pond State Forest, making it an accessible gateway to this section of the Au Sable River system.
Paddlers should note that Mio Pond features shallow areas with stumps and aquatic vegetation, so careful navigation is recommended, especially for small craft. The pond supports a variety of fish species including pike and panfish. An alternative access point is available on Camp 10 Road at the river inlet if you prefer launching from a different location. With four nearby campgrounds within 10 miles—including Au Sable Loop, Chimney Loop, and Mack Lake ORV Campgrounds—this access site works well as a base for multi-day paddling trips or overnight outings on the Au Sable River system.
