About This Access Site
**Status & Location:** Monaca Access is a boat ramp located in Monaca, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, on the Ohio River. The site is part of the Ohio River Water Trail corridor between Pittsburgh and the tri-state area. However, **note that the ramp is currently non-functional due to water level changes from recent U.S. Army Corps of Engineers projects on the Monongahela River**. Contact the Ohio River Trail Council (1100 Pennsylvania Ave, Monaca, PA 15061) for current status before planning your trip.

**River Conditions:** The Ohio River at this location is a major waterway with significant flow and size. As a Stream Order 9 river with an average discharge of over 306,000 cubic feet per second, the Ohio carries substantial current with an average velocity of 7 feet per second. Paddlers and boaters should expect strong, consistent flow and be prepared for commercial barge traffic. The area features multiple navigation pools (Emsworth, Montgomery, and New Cumberland) that moderate water levels but also create variable conditions.

**Facilities & Nearby Resources:** When operational, the Monaca area offers access to campsites, marinas, picnic areas, and restaurants to support river users. For current information on alternative access points or repairs, contact the Ohio River Trail Council or the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission.
