Mooring Area #1

**Launch & Access Details**
Mooring Area #1 is an ADA-accessible boat ramp located on the 250-acre Black Moshannon Lake near Philipsburg. The lake features 90 mooring spaces and three boat launch areas total. A launch permit or mooring permit from Pennsylvania State Parks is required and can be obtained at most state park offices. Boat rentals are available seasonally during summer months, including ADA-accessible options through the Sleepy Hollow Outpost. Electric vehicle charging is available in the day-use parking area near Pavilion 3.

**Boating Restrictions & Activity**
Black Moshannon Lake prohibits gas-powered motors—all motorboats must display current registration and comply with electric/non-motorized equipment rules. The lake is excellent for kayaking and canoeing and is popular year-round. Winter recreation includes iceboating, which requires a separate state park launch permit. The lake remains mostly open for iceboating during winter months.
