About This Access Site
The Moose Creek Dam boat ramp provides access to the Chena River in the Chena Lakes Recreation Area near Fairbanks, Alaska. This developed site features a concrete boat ramp that allows paddlers, canoeists, and small motorized boats to access the river.

The Chena River in this area is a medium-sized, meandering river with a relatively gentle flow, making it well-suited for recreational boating. Anglers will find a variety of fish species here, including Arctic Grayling, Northern Pike, Whitefish, and Burbot. The recreation area also offers camping opportunities, with both developed campgrounds and a remote, boat-access-only island.

Note that the boat ramp and associated parking lot will be closed for construction from June 15th, so boaters should plan accordingly during that time. Guides operating commercial trips in the Chena Lakes Recreation Area are required to have a permit. Private boaters are allowed on the Chena River, but other water landings within the recreation area are generally prohibited without authorization.
