About This Access Site
Located at Lily Bay State Park on Maine's largest lake, the Dunn Point boat ramp provides excellent access to Moosehead Lake's 117-square-mile expanse. This state park facility features two trailerable boat ramps and ample parking, making it convenient for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorboats. The park is situated along the scenic east shore approximately 9 miles north of Greenville in Piscataquis County.

Amenities at the access site include drinking water, flush toilets, and hot showers, along with a camp store, marina, and boat slips for those needing additional services. A two-mile shoreline walking trail and picnic areas are available for day-use visitors. The large, deep lake offers calm paddling conditions suitable for various skill levels, though paddlers should be prepared for changing weather conditions on such a large open water body.

This location serves as an ideal jumping-off point for exploring Moosehead Lake's remote islands and coves, including public lands on Mt. Kineo, Farm Island, and Sugar Island, all accessible by water only. The well-maintained facilities and proximity to Greenville make Dunn Point a reliable choice for both day trips and longer paddling adventures.
