About This Access Site
Located at 3407 Arendell Street in Morehead City, this public boat ramp provides convenient access to Bogue Sound and the Intracoastal Waterway. The facility features 33 parking spaces, handicapped-accessible amenities, and floating docks that accommodate tidal changes—making it easy for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters to launch and retrieve vessels. The ramp is situated on the Morehead City waterfront near the Crystal Coast Tourism Authority and NC Division of Marine Fisheries, with good vehicle access via nearby main roads.

Bogue Sound is a protected estuarine water body ideal for paddlers seeking calmer conditions away from ocean swells. The area is part of North Carolina's National Estuarine Research Reserve system, which protects fragile coastal habitats. Access is free to the public, and the Intracoastal Waterway connection (near ICW mile marker 205) allows easy navigation to broader water routes. For extended stays, Oyster Point Campground is available within 10 miles for campers and overnight visitors.
