Morris Bridge Park offers a convenient public launch point on the Hillsborough River in Tampa, featuring a boat ramp with an unloading dock and parking for up to 10 vehicles with trailers. The ramp is off-limits to airboats. This location serves as a key access point for paddlers exploring multiple sections of the river, whether launching upstream toward Hillsborough River State Park or paddling downstream toward Trout Creek.
Paddlers should be aware that conditions vary significantly depending on which section of the river you choose. Downstream from the park, the river narrows considerably with overhanging trees and branches that may require portaging or careful maneuvering. If paddling the Seventeen Runs section, be prepared for challenging conditions—this remote area is not accessible by road, features dark water up to 4 feet deep, and can be difficult to navigate against the current. For extended trips or challenging sections, bring sufficient food, water, and supplies in case you're unable to complete your paddle before dark.
