Mosquito Flat Reservoir near Challis offers a developed boat ramp on the east side of the reservoir, making it a convenient launch point for both motorized and non-motorized watercraft. A Forest Service campground is also located adjacent to the ramp, providing overnight camping options for visitors. The facility includes toilet facilities and supports various boating activities including kayaking, canoeing, and power boating.
The reservoir is regularly stocked with rainbow trout by Idaho Fish and Game, making it popular with anglers who can fish from boats, along the shore, or via float tube. In addition to the main boat ramp, carry-down access is available for those launching smaller vessels or kayaks. This is an ideal base for exploring the reservoir while also accessing the surrounding Challis Foothills Trail System and nearby recreation areas like the scenic Upper Salmon River.
