Mount Hope

Mount Hope Boat Ramp provides concrete access to Salamonie Lake near Lagro in Wabash County. This is one of five dedicated concrete ramps managed by Indiana DNR around the lake, making it a reliable launching point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The ramp is part of the Mount Hope State Recreation Area, which offers amenities including parking and facilities typical of developed access sites.

Salamonie Lake offers a scenic paddling destination with a name rooted in Native American history—derived from "O-sah-mo-nee," meaning "yellow paint." When planning your visit, be aware that water levels fluctuate seasonally, and shallow areas may exist, particularly during late fall and winter months when markers are removed. For winter paddling or boating when water levels drop to winter pool, the Dora ramp is noted as the deepest alternative. Check current lake conditions before launching, and plan accordingly based on your vessel type and water level expectations.
