About This Access Site
Mud Lake in Jackson County offers a concrete boat ramp providing convenient water access for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The ramp is located near the campground area and provides a reliable launch point for exploring this calm, decent-sized lake. The concrete surface makes it suitable for launching various watercraft, from kayaks and canoes to fishing boats targeting black crappie and bass.

In addition to the main ramp, paddlers have a secondary option at Site #6, which features a small path down to the lake with a shallow water entry point—particularly useful for hand-launching kayaks and canoes without using the larger ramp. The calm waters of Big Mud Lake make it an accessible destination for paddlers of various skill levels. This is a Michigan DNR-managed boating access site located in Waterloo Township, Southeast Region.
