About This Access Site
Nelson Lake is a substantial 2,716-acre lake in Sawyer County offering excellent opportunities for kayaking, canoeing, and motorized boating. With a maximum depth of 33 feet, the lake provides good water conditions for various paddling activities. Public boat access is available at dedicated landing areas around the lake.

The primary boat ramp is located approximately 2 miles from the main access site and serves as the launch point for all boat launching and loading. The access area features several amenities including a modern fish house with freezer, fire pit with wood, picnic tables, gas grills, and ample dock space for fishing and boating activities. Free kayak use is available to visitors, making it convenient for those without their own equipment.

Nelson Lake supports a healthy fishery with Panfish, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, and Walleye, making it popular with anglers as well as recreational paddlers.
