About This Access Site
Niobrara Landing is a primitive boat ramp providing access to the Missouri River near Niobrara, Nebraska (River Mile 852). Located just 2 miles north of Highway 12 via Lazy River Road, this 2-acre access point offers a straightforward put-in for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The site includes basic amenities with restrooms available, though water and picnic facilities are not provided. Primitive camping is available near the ramp, making it suitable for multi-day trips.

As a major river system draining 418,761 square miles, the Missouri River at this location is a powerful waterway with an average flow of over 121,000 cubic feet per second and current velocities around 7.4 feet per second. The moderate gradient of 3.9 feet per mile creates steady flow conditions typical of the lower Missouri. Paddlers should be prepared for significant current and plan accordingly for their skill level and vessel type. The landing provides access to scenic sections near Niobrara State Park and serves as a key waypoint for longer Missouri River expeditions heading toward the river's confluence with the Mississippi River, still 3,493 miles downstream.
