About This Access Site
The North Douglas boat ramp provides easy access to the sheltered waters of Fritz Cove in the Pacific Ocean. This is a popular launching point for kayakers, canoeists, and small trailerable boats. The ramp is located between mile markers 9 and 10 on North Douglas Highway, making it conveniently situated for visitors to Juneau.

The cove is generally calm and protected, making it well-suited for beginner and intermediate paddlers to explore the scenic coastal environment. Paddlers may spot marine wildlife like seals, sea lions, and bald eagles in the area. Boaters should be aware of potential tidal currents and plan accordingly. There are two campgrounds within 10 miles of the site, providing options for overnight stays.

While this is a popular access point, users should be prepared for high traffic during peak summer months. Launching and loading boats may require patience at busy times. No additional fees or permits are required to use the North Douglas boat ramp beyond normal boating registration and licensing.
