About This Access Site
Located near the small town of Plymouth, Washington, North McNary provides a concrete boat ramp on Lake Wallula (the Columbia River impoundment behind McNary Dam). The large concrete launch ramp at the Peninsula Unit's southern end allows access to Casey Pond and out into the Columbia River, with parking capacity for approximately 30 trailers and 55 vehicles. This site is ideal for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters looking to explore the lake's calmer waters or access fishing areas.

The access site is situated in a scenic area near several wildlife refuges, including the Umatilla and Cold Springs National Wildlife Refuges, which border the Columbia River shoreline. Popular activities include fishing for Chinook, steelhead, walleye, and sturgeon, as well as boating, water skiing, and swimming. Reservable campground facilities are available at nearby Plymouth Park. For more information or reservations, contact the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Walla Walla District at 541-739-1135. The site is accessed via US-395 South from Kennewick, then State Route 14 West, followed by Plymouth Road heading south.

The park is situated in a high desert environment on an island on the Columbia River. The island is covered with tall sage and Russian Olive trees, but shade is limited.

Wildlife is abundant in the area, and mule deer, waterfowl and raptors are commonly seen.
