About This Access Site
**Location & Access:** Bennett Peak Campground is a BLM-managed access point on the North Platte River located in Carbon County, Wyoming, near Riverside. The site requires a scenic but lengthy drive: approximately 38 miles south from I-80 via Wyoming 130 and 230, then 12 miles on gravel road and 7 additional miles on BLM Road 3404. Plan for about 30 minutes of driving once you leave the highway.

**Facilities & Amenities:** The access features an improved cement boat ramp suitable for launching kayaks, canoes, and rafts. The 11-site campground offers $10/night campsites with picnic tables, fire rings, and sandy tent pads (no pull-throughs), plus vault toilets and day-use parking. The site includes bank fishing access and accommodations for persons with disabilities. Note that the hand pump water well is currently non-operable. At 7,200 feet elevation, this is a popular summer launch point for floating the North Platte, typically accessible June through late July.

**River Character:** The North Platte at Bennett Peak is a substantial river offering good fishing opportunities. Below this access, paddlers will encounter rock gardens and small drops—manageable for most craft but requiring more technical skills for canoes. The river sees moderate to high traffic during summer season due to the convenient boat ramp and logistics. For reservations or current conditions, contact (307) 328-4200.
