North Sentinal is one of nine boat ramps providing access to Lake Thunderbird on the Little River, located approximately 13 miles east of downtown Norman. This access point serves paddlers, canoeists, and motorboaters looking to launch on the 3,400-acre reservoir created by Norman Dam. The ramp is situated within Lake Thunderbird State Park, which offers comprehensive recreational facilities including two full-service marinas (Calypso Cove Marina and Little River Marina), multiple launch options, and amenities like restrooms and picnic areas.
The park provides excellent support services for a full day of water recreation. Beyond the ramp itself, you'll find fuel and supplies at either of the two marinas, over 200 RV campsites (30 with full hookups) if you're planning an overnight trip, and two swim beaches. The multiple ramps throughout the park mean you have options if the North Sentinal location is crowded. For kayakers and canoeists, Lake Thunderbird offers calmer, reservoir-based paddling rather than river current, making it suitable for various skill levels.
