Old Fort Park

Located near Huron on Lake Whitney in Hill County, this access site offers a convenient launch point for paddlers and boaters. The park features a 2-lane boat ramp suitable for kayaks, canoes, and motorized vessels, with ample parking available. Day-use fees are charged seasonally (April-September), and the ramp is open year-round. To reach the park from Whitney, take FM 933 north and turn left on FM 1713 Spur; the park is located at the end of the road.

Lake Whitney offers excellent paddling opportunities with three public boat ramps and a dedicated canoe/kayak launch throughout the recreation area, giving you multiple access points to explore. The lake is part of a large recreation complex managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, with 10 Corps parks in the area plus additional facilities. Note that cash is no longer accepted at USACE-operated facilities—plan to pay by card.
