About This Access Site
Old Hickory Marina provides boat launch access to Old Hickory Lake, a popular recreation destination on the Cumberland River just north of Nashville. Located off Ensley Avenue in Davidson County, this day-use facility features a picnic shelter and grilling areas, making it convenient for groups planning extended outings. The site is situated along the extensive 56-mile impoundment of Old Hickory Lake, which offers calm water conditions ideal for kayaking and canoeing.

The Cumberland River is a major waterway with an average flow of approximately 39,000 cubic feet per second and a gentle gradient of 1.2 feet per mile, creating manageable paddling conditions through this reservoir. Old Hickory Lake maintains a full pool elevation of 445 feet mean sea level, with water levels that can be tracked daily through the TVA Lake Information website. With 44 public boat access sites available throughout the lake at no charge, paddlers have multiple launch options, and eleven marinas offer amenities including fuel, food, and rentals if needed.
