The Omer access site provides a convenient public launch point on the Rifle River in northeast Michigan's Arenac County. Located on South Michigan Avenue in the village of Omer (just before the pavement ends), this site features a wooden staircase with metal railing leading down to the riverbank. Parking is available in the lot, and a port-a-john is on-site for visitor convenience. The site is easily accessible from I-75 North (Standish Exit #188) via US-23 through Standish.
Paddlers should be aware that the Rifle River moves swiftly at this location, making it suitable for those with some paddling experience. The shoreline here is limited, so launching and landing should be planned accordingly. While shore fishing is available, space is tight. This access point works well as part of a paddling trip along the Rifle River Trail, which is part of the Northern Coastal section of Michigan's Saginaw Bay Blueways system.
